Today the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the European Patent Organisation (EPO) on the Validation of European Patents being signed in 2019 has entered into force.

Under this agreement applicants will be able to validate their European Patents granted by the European Patent Office in Georgia even though Georgia is not a contracting state to the European Patent Convention (EPC). European Patents validated in Georgia will have the same legal effect as Georgian patents.

Validation for Georgia can be requested for any European or international application filed on or after January 15, 2024.
